Rice Rice Baby
Well, Jaron has entered a new stage in life. On Saturday he ate his first solids! Now some of you may be thinking, “What? He just started eating solids NOW?!” To answer that question simply, YES! It was actually Doctor’s orders that we wait to start feeding him. So our big 8 ½ month old had his first new taste and he actually liked it.
We gave him rice cereal, and even though he only put down a couple spoonfuls, he seemed to enjoy the new experience. Being the big boy that he is, he wanted to feed himself so it wasn’t the cleanest experience that we have had.
So we decided to give him a bath after he ate. We bought a blow-up bathtub to help transition Jaron into the big bathtub. We hadn’t used it yet, but we figured since Jaron was being such a big boy with eating that we would try him in the big boy bathtub too. Well, as soon as his toes hit the water he started screaming! He refused to sit in the tub and acted like we were at the doctor’s office getting shots! He never acts like that so we took him out and tried to calm him down. So now I fear that he has been traumatized by the experience and will never want to go back in the tub! He has never had a fear of water before, so we were quite surprised by his reaction. Hopefully, it was just something that was in the water (no pun intended).

Maybe you could try the blow up tub in the floor or on the table etc... wherever you used to give him baths. Maybe after he was more accustomed to the blow up you could move the blow up tub into the big tub. Just a suggestion, I'm sure you have already thought of.
He sure is a cuttie pie sitting in his high chair like such a big boy!

With our first we had some sort of a chair that sat down in the big tub. It kept our son upright and yet in the tub. Eventually, we transitioned him out of it. But every kid is different. As soon as Isabel was old enough to sit she started taking big tub baths. However, I'd trade that little blessing for some of the other things her older sibling did well (like not needing to be held as much).
I'm surprised to be the first on this, but who could forget Weird Al Yankovich's parody of Vanilla Ice?

Thanks for the suggestions - I hadn't thought of either of those things. I guess we will keep trying different things until something works!
I was hesitant in including Weird Al in my Rap Artist game, seeing that he isn't a rap artist, but I couldn't help it. You've gotta admit he has some entertaining songs.

Laini - I must admit, this is the best title that a blog entry has ever had. Ever. Seriously, Ever.
Anyway, I can't believe its been so long since Julie and I have seen you guys. And I can't believe how big your little guy is. When I finally meet Jaron, I'll teach him how to rock a mic like a vandal, light up a stage, or wax a chump like a candle. And if he is lucky, I'll take him rollin, in my 5.0, with the rag top down so our hair can blow....
I could go on forever, so I'll cut myself off here. Say hi to Ben for me (brother Ben that is, not husband Ben, although you can say hi to him for me too.)

Rich who? The name is not ringing a bell. I used to have a good friend named Rich, but it has been so long since I have seen him that I have forgotten all about him.
