Back to Reality
We are back from our vacation. The week went by quickly. But they always do when you are having fun. It was great to get away from the daily routine and just relax and hang with the fam. We went to Hilton Head Island and stayed at a resort that was right on the beach. So we were able to just walk down to the beach everyday - very nice! The weather was a little cool all week, so there wasn't much playing in the water. Ben was the only one that braved the chilly water. We tried to get Jaron to go in, but once he would get close to the ocean, he would grab onto us in fear and refused to go in. I can imagine for a kid his size that the waves would be pretty scary. So Jaron and I would hang out on the beach, bundled in our sweatshirts, playing in the sand while dad went exploring in the water. Jaron loved playing in the sand. This was his first time to the beach so it was fun seeing how he reacated to it all. The weather was nice a couple of days, but it would get cloudy as the day went on, and when the sun was gone, so was the warmth.
The beach was beautiful and very peaceful. We would take a walk on the beach each day (the sand was pretty hard which was great for using the stroller) and it was great because the beach was practically empty. It was so nice to not be on a crowded beach where you can hardly find a place to put your beach blanket down.
When we weren't on the beach we hung out in our room, Ben enjoying having cable TV (no free wireless though - you had to pay $15/hour for use in the lobby! So we didn't use the internet all week!), Jaron playing with his toys and practicing his walking, and I would do the daily crossword puzzle, with Ben's help, that we got in our free USA Today that was delivered to our door each day. I also got hooked on Sudoku which was also in the daily paper. It really is addicting!
So it was a good vacation. I think Jaron is glad to be back home, even though he did well being away from home. He also did fairly well in the car. The trip home was not as good as going, but we were able to appease him with Baby Einstein Videos - I don't know what we would have done without them. Now it's back to normal life. Yipee.

Time for a Vacation
We just found out on Monday that we will be going on vacation this upcoming week. Talk about last minute planning! Ben's parents hooked us up cuz they had an extra week of vacation that they were unable to use. We wanted to go to the beach and figured we would need to go soon if we wanted nice weather. So we are going this weekend! We will be staying on a resort right on the beach. How fun! I am looking forward to a week away. The last vacation that we had gone on was 2 years ago when we went to California to visit with my family. So it has been awhile! So now we have a lot of last minute preparation to do and Ben has been working hard to get some projects done for work. I am praying that Jaron does well in the car - it will be a 6 hour drive. The only other long trip we have gone on was back in June when we went to St. Louis with the Youth Group. He did really well on that trip so I am hoping for the same this time around. But if anyone has any travel tips for us, let us know! We will be taking my sister-in-law's tv for the car and Jaron's Baby Einstein videos, which he loves. Check-in is not until 4pm so we will not be able to leave early in the morning, which seemed to work well last time. So we will see how it goes. I'm just excited about seeing the ocean again! I miss it!

The Simple Joys of Life
10. Knowing there is nowhere else I would rather be
9. A beautiful Fall day
8. Listening to the wind rustle through the trees as their leaves fall to the ground
7. Hearing birds chirping
6. A screened in porch to keep the mosquitos out
5. A sleeping boy
4. Laying in a hammock that my husband put up yesterday
3. Taking a nap
2. Being a stay at home mom
1. Being a stay at home mom and therefore being able to take a nap in a hammock with a sleeping boy in a screened-in porch, hearing birds chirping while listening to the wind rustle through the trees as the leaves fall to the ground, on a beautiful Fall day....and knowing there is nowhere else I would rather be.
