Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints

Rudy Schmidt has gone to be with the Lord. You know that there is great rejoicing in heaven right now as God's faithful servant has gone home. And how wonderful it must be for Mr. Schmidt as He finally stands in the presence of His Father, whom he has loved and served so faithfully on this earth. But he will definitely be missed by his wife, family, and so many others whose lives he has touched. May God receive the glory even in the midst of death. Pray for Mrs. Schmidt as she has lost her dear husband.

The funeral is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at New City Fellowship. I'll give more details as I receive them.

Update on Rudy Schmidt

Here is an update about Rudy Schmidt that was sent to the alumni of Covenant (an email list I am not actually on, but my husband is). Continue to pray.

" Rudy Schmidt has been diagnosed with leukemia and is being treated at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Rudy has experienced a medical roller coaster for the past two months with spikes in his temperature, various pains and discomforts, and other symptoms, but on Friday the hematologist confirmed that the blood work indicated leukemia. He is currently on 100% oxygen and they have treated him with antibiotics and steroids both to relieve the breathing problems and to attack what they thought was pneumonia. They can’t rule out the pneumonia (and the antibiotics certainly won’t hurt) but the latest theory is that the various spots on his lung X-rays are actually the evidence of leukemia rather than pneumonia. He will have a bone biopsy to try and determine exactly what form of leukemia he has, but it appears now to be a rather aggressive acute leukemia. After the biopsy, however, they will consider chemotherapy to seek to send the leukemia into remission for a time. The only other alternative at this point is to stay on the 100% oxygen and pursue hospice care at Memorial (that level of oxygen can’t be delivered at home).

Right now Rudy is sleeping and eating well and actually feels okay - even his chronic neck pain has subsided for the most part! He and Collyn are trusting in the Lord and are seeking the most complete information from a variety of doctors in order to make the best decisions for the future. Rudy’s specific prayer request is that the Lord would allow some remission so that he can return home for at least a short while. They both really appreciate everyone's prayers and concerns. Please continue to pray for health and healing for Rudy, and peace and wisdom for both Rudy and Collyn."

Halloween Pictures

Here are some pics of Jaron from Halloween. I know, I'm a little slow in posting them. But better late than never, right? He was dressed up as a duck, one of his favorite animals.

Pray for Rudy Schmidt

It looks like Mr. Schmidt may have acute Leukemia. He has been sick recently and is in the hospital right now. He was supposed to meet with a Specialist late this afternoon to find out more. I personally don't know any more at this time. I just ask that those of you that know him pray for him and his wife. They are some of the founders of Covenant College and have been a pillar for both Covenant College and New City Fellowship Church. He has never missed a Covenant graduation since the school moved to Lookout Mountain! They have been deeply involved in Covenant throughout its history and also were part of the founding group of New City Fellowship. They are amazing people who love the Lord deeply and serve Him in word AND in deed. They have touched the hearts of many and I am sure that they would both appreciate your prayers during this time.
