Nesting has begun

I think that I have entered into the "nesting" stage of pregnancy. I have had this urge all of a sudden to get things ready for the baby, clean the house, and get organized. I think that it has finally hit me that I am having a baby soon! And nothing has been done to prepare for this one. It is so different with your second child. The time flies and before you know it, you are 3 weeks away from your due date and you haven't thought at all about having a baby! Of course, with the second kid, there is not nearly as much preparation to do, but still I feel like we are not ready. I spent all day today sorting through Jaron's clothes and packing away winter clothes and going through 3 bags of boy clothes from my sister-in-laws. So at least HIS clothes are taken care of. But now I have to sort through newborn clothes and see what we may be missing. Part of the problem of doing this is that we don't have a dresser for the baby yet, so I feel like I need to wait until I actually have somewhere to put the clothes. We went to Target last night to look at dressers but didn't get anything. Anyone know of cheap places to go to find one? I feel like once we make that purchase, and a storage unit for diapers and such, I will feel a lot more ready to have this baby. But there is also the house to get ready. Besides the fact that I want to come home from the hospital to a clean house, I have to make sure that the house is ready for guests. Unlike when Jaron was born, people may actually be in our house while we are at the hosptial, taking care of Jaron. This means that I have to actually CLEAN! No closing doors and blocking people from going to certain parts of the house! They will have free reign of the house which means that the ENTIRE house has to be presentable. Ben and I cleaned the refrigerator on Saturday, which is something that needed to be done a LONG time ago! There were things that I was throwing away that I had no idea what they were. The problem with me getting into this nesting mood is that I am limited in what I can do. My body aches more and more and just doing simple things like sweeping are becoming a chore. So this means that I am asking Ben to do some of the tasks that I am wanting to get done, but am unable to do myself. Poor guy. Hopefully he will continue to put up with me!

On another note, I went to the midwife yesterday and am only measuring 37 weeks (I am 36 1/2 weeks). So this may mean that I won't be having a baby as big as Jaron was. The scary thing of the visit was that she said that I had gained 9 lbs. since my last visit! I just starred at her blankly when she told me this. How could I have gained 9 lbs. in two weeks?? Yikes! That is like how much I should have gained in 2 MONTHS! She said that something must be wrong with their scales because she can't imagine that I actually gained that much. I sure hope not!!

So can people remind me what I am supposed to be doing to get ready for a baby? I know that there are things that I should be doing that I haven't even thought of yet. At the moment I am working on a CD to take to the hospital to play during labor. I have been reading birth books to remember what I am supposed to do and how to prepare my body. I need to make a packing list for things to take to the hospital. What else??

Helicopter in Coolidge Park

This morning Jaron and I went to Coolidge Park to hang out with some other moms and their kids. Jaron was happily playing in the grassy area of the park when a helicopter flew over us. It was moving REALLY slow and looked like it was about to land on top of us. But it continued on. Then a bunch of sailor guys or something came up to us and said that we had to move back because the helicopter was trying to land in the park! What in the world?? So we moved all of our stuff to the path that circles the grass and waited. Sure enough the helicopter came back. It was a lot lower this time and VERY loud. Jaron started freaking out in his aunt's arms so I had to carry him further away. The wind it created was so powerful that my stroller blew all the way to the other side of the park! And it was even weighed down with my big ol' diaper bag! Unfortunately, for Jaron and some of the other kids who were not so thrilled about this helicopter landing, it did not land but circled one more time. It was waiting for the right wind conditions or something. So once again Jaron started screaming and shaking in my arms until the helicopter landed on the stage area. I had to sing "Elmo's World" in his ear to calm him. Once the helicopter turned off, all the kids were fine and we went over to check it out. They let kids go inside, but Jaron wasn't having any of that. But at least he let me go up next to it and look inside. It was pretty cool. It was a coast guard helicopter from Louisiana. I am not sure what it was doing there in our park though. Channel 3 news was there, so check it out if you want more details and look for the big pregnant lady with the chubby kid! Murphy's Law was that I forgot my camera at home. So sorry, no pictures.
